I am the beginning, the end, the one who is many.  My pronouns are we/I.

“We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.”  This is the collective voice of the Borg, an alien group in the Star Trek universe, cyborgs linked together with a hive mind.  There is a Queen, naturally.  Sometimes she speaks in a singular voice and says things like “I am the Borg. I am the Collective. I am the beginning, the end, the one who is many.”  Sometimes the Queen refers to herself as ‘I’, sometimes as ‘we.’  Highly adaptable, they are resistant to directed energy weapons.  They assimilate other species and bring them into the Borg.  The technique of assimilation has changed over the years of the franchise, from abduction and surgery to the injection of nanoprobes into an individual’s bloodstream.  Once a drone’s pair of tubules has injected the nanoprobes into the victim, assimilation is swift; their skin turns Borg-grey and race and gender cease to matter.

The twentieth century space race showed us an array of winged and unwinged capsules, little bottle rockets with boosters and thrusters.  In Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey the Aries 1B was a round lunar shuttle.  Discovery One was an interplanetary craft; a round crew module was connected to a nuclear engine by a long 140-meter boom.  Earlier models showed a design closer to a capsule, but by the time of film shooting, it had become a sphere.  Kubrick’s team had a whole back-story on how these rounded designs worked in space.

The Star Trek universe could disregard the need to accelerate through space in the traditional sense; subspace was manipulated to create ‘warp bubbles.’  The elongated hull of a Federation starship was perfect for navigating the peanut shape of the warp field; visualize an 8.  In the forward lobe, space-time is contracted.  In the aft lobe, space-time is greatly expanded.  In the Star Trek manual of definitions this process is called Asymmetrical Peristaltic Field Manipulation (APFM), a non-Newtonian propulsion which does not exhaust reaction mass like a rocket but manipulates subspace directly.  The ship does not move itself.  It moves space.  The ship is stationary inside the warp bubble.

Along come the Borg whose ship is a cube.  I asked myself, “If the sleek hull is perfect for traveling in the warp field, wouldn’t a cube be completely unsuited?”  But, alas, no!  We are told it is far superior.  Its geometrical shape eliminates directional weakness.  The Borg Cube manipulates subspace via transwarp propulsion (faster-than-light technology that exceeds the velocity limits of conventional warp drive), adaptive defensive fields, and a collective communication network.  This is what happens (in the Star Trek universe): The Borg Cube folds subspace to create stable corridors to travel through.  Its architecture is not fractal self-similarity; mini cubes with their own weapons, drones and propulsion system. The Borg Cube is a tessellated construction, comprised of billions of standardized nodes.  Each node has a function.  The cube is built on the Borg philosophy: Efficiency and redundancy.  It lacks hierarchy.  It is decentralized.  No module in the Borg is critical to the hull.  If one node is damaged, another node can be swapped out to perform the function.

In Freemasonry, the cube is the primary symbol of perfection, moral uprightness, and self-improvement.

Recently, I was discussing the ending of Alan Watt’s Reality Check Two and the lovely image that Alan provides at the end of that video.  “You are the microcosm of the macrocosm.”  Some spiritual thinkers have suggested that humans are fractals of the Divine.  “Made in the image and likeness of God.”  Not for this essay, but it poses interesting questions.  Are you that?  Or are you an efficient and redundant non-critical node?

We are given operational programming upon birth that is seamlessly updated by our parents’ own programming and each system function and milestone.  We pledge allegiance to our flag, one nation under God, we learn our place by tests and scores, repetition and reward.  Where glitches in the program might point the fortunate few to an exit, hormones guide us safely back to the herd.  Our sexual rebellions are encouraged and monitored; the intact family is now a moonshot.  Years are spent in struggle, and one forgets he ever sought a way out.  The field with landmines was Alan’s cautionary image of awakening.  “Over here!”  “I’ve got the answers.”  “I will help you find the way through.”  At best, this is blind leading the blind.

I started to write much earlier today but took a break to talk with someone and read a few emails.  This is part of an email I received this morning from someone in Brazil:

Hello, just wanted to mention these articles. One of the Internet Daddies, JPeterson came out and said that the J-s "blessed the world with the Principle of Subsidiarity against tyranny.’  This is what he meant: cartel turf wars regulated by a higher entity which keeps the illusion of "our nation" going via media-education. MAGA is fully lobotomized into this, movie "The Apprentice" is all one needs to understand Trump and this phenomenon.

All "countries" are now visibly (always were covertly) a wrestling thunderdome of lower gangsters overseen by the capstone. This is the meaning of "Intellectual Dark Web", Curtis Yarvin and Neo-reactionary/New Right ascension, along with "libertarianism". This whole "anti-woke" phenomenon, opportunists with facile content online, ALL of it. It just clicked for me. It's full-on Externalization (here, the grotesquely corrupt Bolsonaro admin, Milei which is the same, and so on).

Rest of the planet is already like this; now America submerges into it. It's a form of raping the human consciousness/sense of dignity/self-respect, since the old fantasies of "opportunity for all/meritocracy/anyone can be anything with hard work" at the very LEAST kept those sentiments going.

No wonder morbidity is everywhere, suicides, youngsters giving up on life/not even trying, etc. The statistics dept. of the State here published a "study" concluding that middle-aged and younger Brazilians will grow old without owning anything, even their own cars, and won't have any savings either. 'Natural flow of the Ages', apparently (in reality they'll let this appalling situation fester for a while then introduce UBS-Universal Basic Income, the final chain).

I am only sharing one of two articles that accompanied the email.  This link https://thewinepress.substack.com/p/corruption-trump-to-sell-faster-access will take you to the story that Trump is engaged in something very questionable by selling faster access to his Truth Social posts to help stock traders get an advantage.  Here is that story from a more mainstream purveyor.

The email mentioned a post from Jordan Peterson.  I am supplying the link to Peterson’s X account where he wrote the following on July 14:

With regard to "Judeo Christian":

The 10 Commandments are Jewish.

The great stories of the Old Testament are Jewish.

The Jews developed the idea of subsidiarity as the alternative to tyranny and slavery.

The Jews established the cultural preconditions for the rise of universal literacy.

The fate of Israel at the hands of the Islamists is the fate of the West.

This rising tide of anti-semitism sickens me.

Those of you engaging in it for your oh-so-moral reasons—you're despicable.

And remember, you proud "Christians" objecting in all your purity to the term [Judeo Christian]: Christ Himself was a Jew.

Whether the Jews developed the idea of subsidiarity is highly debatable.  It is closely associated with the Catholic Church.  Subsidiarity is a principle of social and political organization which dictates that decisions should be made at the most immediate or local level consistent with their resolution.  A higher authority should not perform tasks that can be effectively handled by a smaller, subordinate body. The principle was formally defined by Pope Pius XI in the 1931 encyclical Quadragesimo Anno to protect human dignity and personal responsibility.

As a food for thought counter to Peterson’s X rant, this is a different perspective on how Christians have been used to further an agenda.  Blessing Israel, Part 3

There were quite a few things in the email that got me thinking for a few hours this afternoon, rather than writing about the Borg.  The first thing that popped into my head was the question, ‘Is Jordan Peterson a Freemason?’  It turns out that I am certainly not the first person to pose the question, though there is not a definitive answer.  You may do a quick online search and find a few who have asked this and offer interesting documentation to support their conclusions.

Some time ago, a young listener told me that his brother had sent him Peterson’s book Twelve Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos.  He asked what I thought about the book.  I told him that since I had not read it, I couldn’t say much about it.  “But 12 is an interesting number and chaos is an interesting word.”  I had heard that one of the rules was Make Your Bed, but it turned out that although Peterson thinks it is a good idea, he did not make it a rule.  I said to the young listener, “It is interesting to me that Peterson has shot to fame so quickly.  I think he has appeared on Tucker Carlson’s show 15-20 times.”  After that aside I continued, “Whether it is fair or helpful, I compare everyone to Alan Watt.  Alan did not try to help people conform to the world.  He didn’t offer tips on how to succeed, get a girlfriend, or make money.  He told people that the system of this world is ancient and rotten; we are born into a system that is evil.  Only an individual who sees this and can break free from the system in his thinking has a chance.”

Here is a Freemason doing a side-by-side comparison of Peterson’s Twelve Rules and Masonic ‘rules for living.’

https://brotherallatt.substack.com/p/12-masonic-rules-for-life-an-antidote

I’ve extracted the comparison for you:

Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life and their equivalent Masonic Principles:

Rule 1: Stand up straight with your shoulders back

Masonic Principle: Integrity and Dignity. This mirrors the Masonic teachings of standing upright in our actions and living with integrity and dignity.

Rule 2: Treat yourself like someone you are responsible for helping

Masonic Principle: Brotherly Love. Freemasons are taught to care for and support one another, a principle that can be extended to self-care.

Rule 3: Make friends with people who want the best for you

Masonic Principle: Brotherly Love. Freemasonry emphasises forming bonds with people who uphold the same high moral and ethical standards.

Rule 4: Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today

Masonic Principle: Personal Improvement. Freemasonry teaches us to take steps forward and promotes continuous personal growth and improvement.

Rule 5: Do not let your children do anything that makes you dislike them

Masonic Principle: Rectitude. This reflects the Masonic emphasis on guiding newer Masons towards virtuous behaviour.

Rule 6: Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world

Masonic Principle: Ceremony. Our ceremonies, such as the Opening & Closing are how we physically and empathically set our house in order before we begin our work.

Rule 7: Pursue what is meaningful (not what is expedient)

Masonic Principle: Persistence. This resonates with the Masonic emphasis on persisting and being constant in seeking truth and enlightenment over short-term gains.

Rule 8: Tell the truth — or, at least, don't lie

Masonic Principle: Truth. Freemasonry values truth and honesty in all dealings.

Rule 9: Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don’t

Masonic Principle: Mutual Respect and Learning. Freemasonry promotes a culture of learning, respecting others' perspectives and experiences.

Rule 10: Be precise in your speech

Masonic Principle: Harmony. Precise communication is essential in Masonic teachings to promote harmony and avoid misunderstandings.

Rule 11: Do not bother children when they are skateboarding

Masonic Principle: Liberty. Freemasons value personal freedom and individuality, which echoes Peterson's rule about allowing children their space for growth and exploration.

Rule 12: Pet a cat when you encounter one on the street

Masonic Principle: Relief. While this rule is often interpreted metaphorically to appreciate small moments of happiness amidst life's hardships, it parallels Freemasonry's teachings about charity and showing kindness to all.

The writer of the email concluded, No wonder morbidity is everywhere, suicides, youngsters giving up on life/not even trying, etc.”  Another article was sent to me today by a different listener.  There is a new trend called ‘teen takeovers,’ which are destructive events that have resulted in at least one recent death.  https://www.yahoo.com/news/us/articles/a-social-media-post-thousands-of-teens-then-chaos-030001468.html

It is possible not to be assimilated into the Borg.  We are given exciting images of a transhuman future with robots doing boring work, AI delivering instant solutions and curing cancer, while we learn fun new skills with all our UBI-purchased free time.  Implantable BCI are being developed to help quadriplegics shop online, and a chip the size of a grain of rice will get you in the door to the hottest club in Ibiza.  This Cube has been with us for a long time by Alan Watt’s reckoning.  It is an ancient System which perpetuates itself down through time, folding subspace and creating corridors.  It attempts to assimilate all it encounters, perfecting that which was left imperfect.  Don’t try to fit in with anyone, any country or beLIEf system, and don’t follow anyone else’s rules for life.
